What Can Go Wrong
Chino Hills is a newer build than most of the towns we cover out of Pomona - the median home here dates to 1990, a good 25 years past Pomona's own median. That matters for panels because it tells us what's behind the door. Houses from this era almost always shipped with steel sectional doors, not the older flush or wood-panel styles you find in towns built out in the 1950s and 60s. The steel holds up, but the factory finish doesn't. By year 30 the galvanized coating has usually started to go at the bottom panel first, where sprinkler overspray and curb splash hit it over and over. We also see dented bottom sections from cars clipping the door edge, and on double-wide doors, a cracked panel seam where the original hardware has never been touched. If nothing's been swapped since the house was built, you're running factory-spec rollers and hinges on a panel that's thirty-plus years newer than what we deal with in the older end of the service area - different failure point, same company fixing it.
What the Repair Takes
Single bottom panel replacement is usually a half-day job once we've matched the panel - color, rib pattern, and end-stile width all have to line up with what's already on the door, and steel sectional lines get discontinued or re-styled over the years. If your door is still a common size and age, we can often source a matching panel section. If the model's been out of production a while, which happens with 1990s-era doors now, full door replacement ends up cheaper and faster than hunting a matched panel. We'll tell you straight which situation you're in before we quote anything. One limitation worth saying up front: we don't carry every panel profile on the truck, since the match has to be exact or the door looks patched. That sometimes means a short order wait, not a same-visit fix.
The Cost of This Job
We don't post panel pricing here because it swings hard on door brand, panel profile, and whether a match is even available for a 30-plus-year-old sectional door - the same door style costs differently to service depending on whether the manufacturer still makes that line. What we can tell you is that Chino Hills households have a notably higher median income than much of the rest of our service area, and we see that reflected in more owners choosing full door replacement over patch repairs once a panel match gets hard to find. Either way, you get a firm number before we start, not after.
How to Book
We run this job out of Pomona, about 8 miles from Chino Hills, so we schedule the visit rather than drop by on the fly. Tell us the door's approximate age, whether you know the brand, and which panel section is damaged - bottom, middle, or a seam crack - and we'll bring panel samples sized for 1990s-era sectional doors rather than guessing on-site. See more on areas we cover near Chino Hills, or check our panel replacement page for Pomona itself if you're asking on behalf of a property there instead.
